BEHIND THE LENS
Shelby is a Midwest-based photojournalist covering communities, social issues, and long-form documentary stories across the United States.
Her work centers on people and place, with an emphasis on access, accountability, and on-the-ground reporting.
With a background in psychology, Shelby approaches assignments with a focus on human behavior and the quieter dynamics that shape events. Since beginning her career, she have produced coverage ranging from urban life and political gatherings to community-led movements and emerging cultural narratives.
A few Shelby’s most notable assignments include covering Bernie Sanders Fighting Oligarchy Tour, Sean Combs v. United States Verdict, and recent political protests.
Shelby reports regularly in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, D.C., and works with publications and organizations nationwide as well as produces her own editorial content.

I specialize in photojournalism, street photography, editorial work, and have a strong ability to capture emotion in black and white.

My current goals include releasing multiple long-form visual projects in 2026, and take on more challenging assignments such as conflict or political coverage.
